"The Big Problem with Stripes"
Once upon a time there lived a tiger named Stripes. Stripes had lots of friends. Their names were Ella the Elephant, Ricki the Rhino, George the Gorilla, and Chunky and Funky the twin monkeys.
One day, Stripes had a big problem. He lost his favorite sweater! He went over to Chunky and Funky’s house to tell them the bad news. “That’s terrible,” exclaimed Chunky as he passed out chunky-chocolate-chip-cookies. “Are you talking about the one that says I LOVE GRANDMA SHELLEY NICKLES?” asked Funky. “Yes,” said Stripes in a sad tone. “I hope; you find your sweater,” said the twins.
Stripes then left to his house. As he ate his supper and watched “The Corny Canteloupe Show” he thought, “Where could my sweater be?” After the show, Stripes took a little nap. He had a dream that George the gorilla took his sweater and threw it in the pond where Cranky the crocodile tore it up! When Stripes woke up, he thought that maybe George the Gorilla took the sweater.
He went to Ella the elephant’s house, but no one was there. He went to Chunky and Funky’s house, and no one was there either. He went to Ricki the Rhino’s house, and again no one was there. When Stripes knocked on George’s door, the door swung open!
As Stripes was going in, everyone popped out and shouted, “Happy April Fool’s Day!” Stripes was so surprised that he jumped. Everyone laughed until tears came down their eyes as George the Gorilla gave Stripes his sweater.
Stripes did not think it was funny, and he told everyone they should not have been tricking him like that. “I’m sorry I tricked you like that,” said George. Stripes was glad to get his favorite sweater back, so he forgave them. They all ate a bowl of green shrimp soup with bamboo crackers.
THE END!
