ITV stands for instructional television, which is programming specifically aimed at teaching viewers.

Television is an important teaching tool, which can:

• introduce new subjects
• motivate class discussion
• reinforce lessons taught.

It is a library, computer, and field trip rolled into one familiar medium.

With instructional programming available from across the nation, ITV can assist with the needs of the community by providing it with vital and helpful information.

• Provides instructional programs for classroom use

• Gives free Ready to Learn workshops

• Promotes PBS TeacherSource and School Record Rights

• Streams the CPB/Annenberg Channel on its web site

• Partners with local school districts to air its productions twice a week

• Broadcasts telecourses for South Texas Community College

• Participates with the RGV Literacy Taskforce and airs GED and Pre-GED programs which have free online lessons

• Participates in events across the Valley

• Partners with the Harlingen Public Library for the Literary Connections book club

• Distributes free teacher's guides

• Organizes the Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest
